The Map Layers Tab  provides a list of available map layers. The user is provided with check boxes for turning layers on or off (Figure 1). The Map will automatically update upon each check box clicked.

The Expand link at the top of the tab enables the user to expand the layer list to present the symbology and colors used in the map for different layers and their various "classes" (Figure 2). The Collapse link reduces the layer list to its original form. While the Expanded Layer List provides more information, the Collapsed Layer List is much shorter, and is easier for the user to browse and find layers.
