The Photos Tab enables multiple forms of digital media to be linked to features
on the map and accessed by users on-line. The most common form of digital media is photography. Photos of historical
houses, parks, central business districts, municipal buildings, landmarks, etc. can all be linked to their respective
features on the map. To access these features, the user simply selects the Photo Tool and clicks on a photo point. The
Photos Tab will activate, and a photo will appear.
Photos can be grouped together in a series also. For example, if a community has several photos of a historical
structure taken over the years, they can setup MapsOnline so that the user can sequence through these photos in
chronological order to see the impact of time.
MapsOnline can also integrate Spherical Photos by IPIX. These photos provide a virtual tour experience, enabling the
user to get an "on the ground" experience that traditional photos do not provide.
Other forms of multimedia would include videos, Adobe PDF documents, and other imagery. For example, a community
might want to place points on the map to link to engineering reports, planning reports, zoning bylaws, or other
information. Any digital document that pertains to a location on the map can be linked and reviewed by MapsOnline.
