The Print Page is one of three pages in the MapsOnline interface (the
other two pages are the Map Page and the Help Page). The user can setup a custom map for printing on the
Print Tab by entering the Map Title, setting the page size, and setting the scale (several common scale options are
provided, including a setting for the current mapscale of the map window on the Map Page). The user's computer must have
Adobe Reader software installed in order to view the map because of the PDF format used for map production.
This is a free software that many websites rely on for Internet documents, available for
download here.
When you first click on the PRINT tab to view the Print Page, you will notice that it might take a few seconds to
load the PDF map. Depending on your Internet connection speed, this can take from 2 to 7 seconds. Once the printable
map arrives, you can print the map, zoom-in, mark-up, or email the map (assuming you have the latest Adobe Reader
software). To print the map, click the Printer button on the Adobe Reader toolbar. To save the map, click the Save button on
the Adobe Reader toolbar.
If you wish to change your print settings, i.e. change the title, scale, or paper size, you must click Refresh Map to
update the PDF to include your changes. This allows you to make several changes at once without having to wait each
time for the PDF to update. Lastly, if you would like the PDF to become a full-page document, click Full Page Map. This
will open a new browser window and place another copy of the PDF in this new window. You will be able to resize this
window up to full screen.
You can also achieve a full-page PDF map in a seperate browser window directly from the Map Page using the
Quick
Map button. This button will honor your current page size and Title settings from the Print Page, but will always
use the current map scale.
