Queries Tab

The Advanced Search Function  is for users who want to search mapping layers not included in the Find Functions on the General Tab. In addition, users can search on one attribute or two attributes at the same time.

Users have to determine three different inputs; the Search Map Layer (chosen from the first pull-down list), the Search Item (chosen from the second pull-down list), and the Search String (which you type into the text box). Users must also select an operator for string examination. Operators include LIKE, EQ (equals), NE(not equal to), LT(less than), LE (less than or equal to), GT(greater than), or GE(greater than or equal to).

Users can click "GO" to search the chosen mapping layer and generate results. Or, the user can add a second condition. To do so, select a boolean operator (AND, OR, XOR) and then continue to build your second condition. The "AND" operator will produce results that satisfy both conditions. The "OR" operator will produce results when one or both of the conditions are satisfied. The "XOR" operator will produce results where only one of the two conditions is satisfied.

Note: Only those layers that are currently turned on and are visible can be searched with this function.  Also, only those map layers that are configured for queries work with this function.

Once you click "GO", the function will search the database and provide a map window that shows you the possible matches to your search.  You can then click on the "zoom-to" links one at a time to find what you are looking for.

Lastly, you should only type in that text to search for that you are sure of.  For example, type in "120 Lake" to search for "120 Lake St" since the address may actually be "120 Lake Ave".
